People sometimes talk about blogging and bloggers with deep disdain. The fact that some of us write about our lives so much, we chronicle, tweet, and status update the shit out of our lives. It can get on people's nerves. Bloggers can be infamously self important and ego driven. One time I heard someone say, "don't they know one tweet from us could shut this place down!" That comment freaked me out, and simultaneously made me realize how stuck up our own asses bloggers can be. I mean, who the fuck do I think I am? I bought a domain and write these stories, my memories and experiences, and I expect comments and engagement? Except

The thing is... I write these stories and these memories and I DO get comments and engagement. What was birthed from my writing is a community of love and support. Not just for me, but also for my readers. Each time I slingshot a blog post into cyberspace I am profoundly moved by all the feedback I get. I get weekly emails, comments, and messages letting me know how my story is impacting the lives of others.

I think those of us who can tell our story should. Why? Because it frees the next person to tell their story.

Will there be self important asshats along the way? ABSOLUTELY. Should we hate on them for that? ABSOLUTELY NOT... they are being authentic. That is their journey not ours, regardless of what we deem appropriate or not.

Over the time that I've had this blog I've talked about eating issues, my difficult relationship with my mom, raising unexpected children, death, life, and so many other things. Each time, I've been blessed and supported by people who believe in me.  The most important lesson my Grandma Mayfield ever taught me was to always say thank you. "People need to know you appreciate them" she'd say.

So I am saying thank you. You don't have to follow me, or tweet anything, or like my  fan page (though it would be rad if you DID!). All you have to do is enter a comment letting me know you've been reading and you are entered to win a 100$ gift card from Amazon.  Make sure to enter saying you left a comment on the Rafflecopter below, or else you won't be entered. The gift card will be emailed to the winner so they can buy all the things on Amazon. This is my way of saying thank you, I appreciate you. I know bloggers wouldn't be able to do what we do without the readers who support us. Thank you for your support, even though I am not a big deal ;) a Rafflecopter giveaway
