My eldest child, Isaiah, and I don't see eye to eye very often. I think he is too much like me for my own good. I find myself in these crazy negotiating wars with him where I don't realize till afterward that I have been arguing about something mundane, like shoe laces, with a 5 year old! Parenting Isaiah is hard for me, and so I make very intentional investment in spending quality time with him and getting to know who he is as a person. It can be challenging, because the wrong activity could lead to conflict. Which makes it totally awesome that we are both movie LOVERS. The magic of settling deep into a theater seat with a giant screen in front of us is something that is hard to explain. We both relax, like the pressure has been let off of us, we giggle freely, and then chat for days afterward about our experiences.
I've never considered how purchasing tickets online might me streamline my movie nights with Isaiah. I purchased tickets ONCE online to see the first Harry Potter Movie. Otherwise I just typically go to the counter to buy tickets since standing in line isn't such a big deal. Or at least, it wasn't a big deal until I started standing in line with a 5 year old. Purchasing tickets online has totally been off my radar and I don't know why? Maybe they don't advertise in the right places. Think about it though, y'all... streamlining the process where I don't have to field the hundreds of questions that come a long with trying to get my ticket. I could just hand the cashier my printed purchase and walk to my movie. I could bypass the whole 5 year old, "WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG MOM!" meltdown.
Uh, yes please!
So when I was asked to try Hollywood Movie Money and report back on my experience, I naturally thought about Isaiah/Momma movie night. Finding Nemo 3D is in theaters and who doesn't love Dory!
I logged on and went through the ticket buying process. My first impression was that the site was a little dark looking and I wasn't sure if I was in the right place. Before I purchased my tickets I checked out the FAQ section to make sure I understood the process.
I found the movie I wanted to see and then determined if it was available in my area.
Once you type in your location Hollywood Movie Money provides you a list with locations near you to find your movie easily.
You can also customize results in case you don't find what you are looking for.
We went to the movies and handed the cashier our passes. Simple as that!
Overall I liked the process.
HollywoodMovieMoney.com has a great database and the site runs well. I can totally see myself using this service for future movie dates. The only critique I can give is that once I brought my ticket to the cashier, he explained that though my movie was only 10.25, and my ticket was for 13.00... I would just lose the difference in the purchase price. People don't like feeling like they are losing money, so figuring this discrepancy out fast would make this process flawless.
Have you ever purchased tickets online? If so, what did you think of the process. Have you ever heard of Hollywood Movie Money? After reading about my experience would you use this service for your next movie night?
